Trivia

Infos and facts that don't fit elsewhere... ;)

- Tony wrote and recorded a soundtrack to the 1978 movie "The Shout", together with Mike Rutherford. The recording was never published. Parts of the main theme can be heard in the piece "From The Undertow" on the "A Curious Feeling" album. The movie deals about someone who can kill people by screaming (sic!). (Never seen it, though!)

- The story of "A Curious Feeling" is loosely based on the science fiction story "Flowers Of Algernon" by Daniel Keyes. (The motif of losing the mind when falling in love). At the time there was a musical with the same content, so it wasn't mentioned on the record, perhaps for copyright reasons.

- Tony spents much of his time with gardening and collecting stamps nowadays. He still records music regularily and has "hours of unreleased music", as he told in some interview.

- The soundtrack for the "The Wicked Lady" movie was annouced in 2003 to be rereleased on CD with new artwork (together with Rutherford's "Acting Very Strange"). Nothing has appeared since then, though...

- Tony likes comedy movies (mentioned in an article about Genesis).

- In an interesting article that was published in 1991 Tony talks about his cars. Then he had an VW Bus (see picture) and a eight-year-old Saab 900 with a rickety door (!). Read the full article here.

- Toyah (Wilcox), the singer on the song "Lion Of Symmetry" (Soundtracks) is the wife of King Crimson-mastermind Robert Fripp, who worked with both Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins.

- There are actually some more "Tony Banks"es of fame. One is a British politician, one a American baseball star. (Try google for more info ;) )

- Tony is rumored to play on an obscure album by a group called "Spring". I've seen it once at ebay, but never found out if it is really "our" Tony Banks or a name-mate. The record appeared in 1971, if remember correctly. If anybody can confirm this, please email me!

Songs not released on albums (in that form)

Although there's only one "real" non-album-track ("Back To You"), there are a couple of more or less interesting remixes and edits of Tony's songs.

Special mention for the really good single remix of "Walls Of Sound", which is almost better than the album version (it was partly rerecorded by the man himself and features some nice percussion and synth effects).
